Chula Thai House or Reun Thai

Built in the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the university to promote Thai cultural atmosphere in the community.  Thai house was previously a venue for Thai classical music performance by Chulavatid, and an office space for Office of Art and Culture, Chulalongkorn University.  It is currently used for special ceremonies and occasions, namely, Wai Kru ceremony and receptions for university’s esteemed guests.

Chamchuri Art Gallery

Chamchuri Art Gallery, a non-profit art and exhibition space for students, faculty members, and artists of all levels, is located on the first and second floors of Chamchuri 8 Building.  The gallery has three exhibition halls displaying more than 30 rotating exhibitions each year.

Nitas-Sthan

Nitas-Sthan houses rotating exhibitions of art pieces by renowned artists, and occasional exhibitions by foreign embassies in its 346 square meters area.  It is located on the first floor, Art and Culture Building.

Art Acquisition Project

Chulalongkorn University has started occasionally collecting art pieces since approximately thirty years ago during Professor Dr. Kasem Suwannakul’s administration.  Most of the works collected in the initial state were paintings.   In 1984, as the university started a mission in art and culture, the curating of art pieces became an official and ongoing initiative under Office of Art and Culture, which collects works by famous artists, namely Hem Vejakorn, Thawan Duchanee, Angkarn Kalayanapong, Uab Sanasen, Prathuang Emcharoen, Tawee Nandakwang, Damrong Wong-Uparaj, Pravat Laochareon, Kamol Tassananchalee, and other promising young artists.  Chulalongkorn University is known to own one of the largest collections of art pieces in the country.  Our collection contains not only paintings but also sculptures, photographs, and published materials in fine art, dance, and musical arts.

The art pieces in the collection are installed in appropriate offices and places on campus.  Exhibitions are also occasionally open to public.
