Nitas-Stan, a 3,725 square-foot venue in Art and Culture Building, holds exhibitions of works by famous Thai artists who are recognized in the national and international levels as collaborative efforts with foreign embassies and other country representative organizations in Thailand, for instance, Italian, Indian, Japanese, Mexican Embassies, and Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand.
These exhibitions of works in various art forms and branches have been organized regularly during the course of over ten years as one of the major projects by Division of Museum and Art Gallery, Office of Art and Culture, Chulalongkorn University. The purposes are to honor, and make known to the public, the outstanding talent and achievement of the Thai artists; disseminate the body of knowledge in the arts to students, faculty members, and the general public; and also provide opportunities for the public to appreciate the works of the artists without admission fee.
“Khid-Wahd-Khian” (Think-Draw-Write) Exhibition Honoring Thepsiri Suksopha, 2017 National Artist in Literary Art
The exhibition was held between February 1 – June 2, 2021, and on March 26, 2021, it was attended by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, who expressedly interested in the works.
Thepsiri Suksopha is a multi-talented artist with works in literary, theatrical (dance), and visual arts (scenery and story illustration). He started his creative works by traveling to rural areas in the country as a storyteller with his distinctive storytelling techniques and an ability to engage the audience of all ages. At the same time, he rendered his literary works in forms or articles, fictions, documentaries, poems, and children literature. His uniqueness in storytelling, later on, integrated with his expertise in drawing, resulted in his characteristic works in story illustrations and paintings that differ from other artists’ works.
Along with his works as an artist, Suksopha also takes a role as an art educator for his community and the public. He dedicated his home as an art library and space for plays, paintings, and other art forms. He was recognized by Ministry of Culture as National Artist in Literary Art in 2017.
Office of Art and Culture also offered a virtual tour of the exhibition honoring Suksopha as an alternative mean for the public to view and appreciate his works at their convenience from their locations. The virtual tour increased the accessibility of the exhibition in the times of Covid-19 pandemic, and still currently accessible. An online exhibition bulletin in a form of E-book and videography of life and work of the artist are also available for the public to download free of charge.
