Chulalongkorn University Museum is a learning source of information on the university and its pride of its development alongside the society. The modern mode of exhibition presents the university history and body of knowledge developed by university personnel. The museum also dedicates part of the facility as a common study area for students, supports class instructions per request, and acts as a center of all museums under the university.
Multiplication of Benefits from Collaboration between University Museums
Twenty-three independently-operated museums and art galleries under Chulalongkorn University are learning resources of different disciplines that are open to the public, mostly fully subsidized by the university. With its prime location and large, stand alone building, and capability to accept a large volume of visitors from the public, Chulalongkorn University Museum under Office of Art and Culture serves as the main museum to work with, and provide support to, other museums. Chulalongkorn University Museum occasionally houses temporary exhibitions with exhibits from other museums.
This intra-university collaboration with other university museums has finally become official in a form of project that was launched with Clearing and Straining exhibition, which is a collaboration with Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Centre of Learning Networks for the Region, and Chulalongkorn University Museum of Natural History.
‘Clearing and Staining’ Exhibition: An Amalgamation of Science and Art for Sustainable Development
Clearing and Staining is an exhibition that bridges sciences and art by presents clearing and staining specimens from experiments and research produced by students and faculty members from the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University. This is to disseminate the knowledge of clearing and staining processes to the public by means of an accessible art exhibition. The exhibition is part of life-long learning of the public that is inspirational and encourages perception that art and science are closer to their lives. It also an integration of art and science that promotes sustainability of both disciplines.
