Since 1992, as the university’s commitment to strengthen the moral Thai society, Chulalongkorn University Dharma Centre Library at the university’s religious center has been responsible for offering dharma lectures for Chula community and the general public for more than 40 years to provide a deeper understanding of religious teachings.  As the Covid-19 pandemic started to affect Thailand in 2020, the on-site dharma lectures have since changed onto an online platform, now called ‘Online Dharma Lecture Project’, with an addition of the purposes to help ease the situation, bring peace to the minds of the public, and help the audience stay centered in the dire times.

Online Dharma Lectures Project has started in July 2020 during the height of the first wave of the pandemic in the country.  The project upholds the same purpose of disseminating religious teachings via both simple means for casual practitioners and more in-depth for more serious audience.  The lecture topics are on diverse religions.  However, as the vast majority of Thai population is Buddhist, the lectures proportionately gear toward Buddhist teachings.  Guest speakers from various career paths are individuals who are known and respected for their profound understanding of the religions.  Additionally, the Dharma Centre Library produces media on dharma teaching in collaboration with major temples, for instance, Wat Praram Kao Kanchanapisek and  Wat Pathum Wanaram Rachaworawiha temples, to expand its online religious library networks.

Online Dharma Lectures Project broadcasts new videos weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays via Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/CUDharma and Youtube Channel https://www.youtube.com/c/CUDharma/.  The combined views from both outlets are 622,408 as of September 7, 2021.

Chulalongkorn University Dharma Centre Library is open without charge for the university community and general public for searching, retrieving and circulation of information and documents in various forms of media on doctrines and teachings of religions, i.e. Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, and Hinduism.  The library provides reading areas, audio equipment, and a dharma lecture room in its 200 square meters (2,153 square feet) area.
